Best of Ragtime: Piano Solos
Published in Paperback by Warner Brothers Publications (July, 1999)
Author: Scott Joplin
Average review score:

Scott Joplin best of Ragtime
This is an excellent collection of Scott's waltz's, marches and most of his rag's. For more selections of his rag's I suggest the book Scott Joplin's Complete Piano Rags. It is avaliable from Amazon also. Both of these books will give the pianist a very good selection of his songs to play at an intermediate to advanced level. Still missing A Real Slow Drag though. If you are a ragtime enthusiast check out the Ragtime festival in Sedalia Missouri around the first of June each year. It is excellent.

Scott Joplin best of ragtime
This is an excellent and well written book of Scott's rags, waltz's and marches. It has more of the marches and waltz's than the other book I highly recommend (Complete Piano Rags) that has more of the Rag's such as two or my favorites the Pineapple Rag and the Paragon Rag. Both of these books can be oredered through Amazon.

A Better Way: Rediscovering the Drama of God-Centered Worship
Published in Hardcover by Baker Book House (February, 2002)
Author: Michael Scott Horton
Average review score:

Good reading
In this day and age, all you have to do is shop around and you can probably find the church that has a worship style of your choice. In some ways, this might be good, but it does cause some bitter division in churches that have not settled on the style that "works" for them.

Is this the right way for it to be? Has the purpose of worship gotten lost somewhere between the traditions and the new ways? Where is God in all this, in other words.

The author, one of the members of the popular White Horse Inn radio show that examines Reformed theology for the edification and equipment of the believers, realizes that worship is one of the primary functions of those God has called to Himself. Using Biblical illustration, he teaches readers what worship was meant to be, and also provides some useful material that brings aspects of the Bible to a new light and helps some parts that have not quite made sense a bit more comprehensible.

***** The man to whom the book is dedicated, James M. Boice, would be proud if he could read this educational and informative text.

Strongly recommended as a profound, life-changing book
A Better Way: Rediscovering The Drama Of God-Centered Worship by Rev. Michael Horton (Associate Professor, Westminister Theological Seminary, California) is a clear and careful examination of the Christian worship of God. Individual chapters address the Biblical passages that form the source of Christian worship, and the importance of putting God and Jesus Christ foremost. Specially written for those who keep the faith, as well as for pastors and worship leaders, A Better Way is strongly recommended as a profound, life-changing book about what it truly means to express one's reverence with a Christian context of scripture and tradition.

Enter the Dinoverse!
I began reading the Dinoverse series this summer as part of a children's literature course at college. I didn't think they would hold my attention, being juvenile literature...boy was I wrong! The course ended two months ago, but when I found this book, the fifth in the series, I had to read it! My hat is off to author Scott Ciencin, whose work reminds me of my own childhood fantasies of dinosaurs brought to life. I work in a bookstore, and often recommend these titles to parents, looking for books that their sons might enjoy. These are great books for boys, jam-packed with adventure and imagination. I highly recommend the entire series! Can't wait to read the next book when it comes out in November!

Dinoverse 5
This is an execellent read! If you've ever thought about what it would be like to be a dinosaur, then this series is for you. If you are already familliar with Dinoverse, then expect another romp through time with Bertram and some new faces. Each chapter ends in a cliffhanger, and the end of the book will leave you wanting to get your "claws" on the next. I recommend this to everyone, adults and children alike!

Biblical Greek Exegesis

Authors: George H. Guthrie and J. Scott Duvall
Average review score:

Good Method for Exegesis
I highly recommend this book. It provides a logical and detailed method for using Greek in exegesis and helped me apply what I had learned in other Greek classes. The section on semantic diagramming is especially helpful.

Quick Review
A great follow-up to Wallace's "Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics: An Exegetical Syntax of the New Testament" (ISBN: 0310218950).

This is not intended for the beginning student and is a great place to continue your Koine Greek.

Most of the surveillance and counter-surveillance technique from 1970's are still being used today. Even todays high-tech can be foiled with something as simple as a twist of a wrist or mistiming.

Birding: Rocky Mountain National Park

Park Ranger Endorsement
This summer while stopped at an overlook on Trail Ridge Rd. in Rocky Mountain National Park, we spoke with a Park Ranger who had Scott Roederer's Birding Rocky Mountain National Park book in her vehicle. She told us that Scott's book was the best book on birding in RMNP. She uses it as a reference for park visitors who have questions about different birds and where to find them. It also is very well illustrated. I would definitely recommend this book for birders who visit this magnificent Park.

Rocky Mountain Birder's Bible
As first time visitors to Rocky Mountain Park, we purchased Scott Roederer's Birding Rocky Mountain National Park in the park bookstore, but we wish we had had it to study beforehand. This guide not only focuses on the best locations for specific birds, but also provides careful directions (complete with odometer readings!) to trailheads that go well beyond the general maps available. We were also grateful for his strategies for avoiding the summer crowds, including when to arrive at specific trails and the order in which to bird them. Add to all of this Scott's warm, lucid style spiced with birding anecdotes that we can all relate to, and you get a bible for birding Rocky. Although we are certain that birding the park with Scott would have been the supreme experience, carrying his book in a hip pocket is the next best thing!

Bone Marrow Transplantation
Published in Spiral-bound by Landes Bioscience (January, 1996)
Authors: Richard K. Burt, H. Joachim Deeg, and Scott Thomas Lothian
Average review score:

Bone Marrow Transplantation
This is a wonderful, concise text that covers a great deal of clinically useful information. I have almost every book published on stem cell transplantation and this is one of the best for its size and price. I recommend it for anyone in the transplant field. Whether you're new to the field or experienced, you'll find this to be a valuable reference.

VALUABLE RESOURCE EVERYONE IN A BMT GROUP!
The raison d'etre given for this new publication by its authors and publishers is to provide a concise monograph for doctors in training, information, for medical students, paramedical professionals, house-staff and practicing physicians-to say nothing about the nurses and technologists who make up the standard multi-disciplinary transplant group.

The contents of this book are current, authoritative, critically referenced and cover all the recognized aspects of these procedures, with many valuable comments that include a brief history of the topic, design of the transplantation unit, assessment of donors and eventually moving on to provide data that include results in each of the disease categories.

It is seldom that one can recommend, without reservation, widespread use and it is confidently predicted that the audience for whom the monograph is written will find this a valuable resource.

A much needed book about modern day Native people
There are hundreds of children's books that are about Native Americans, but most of them are folktales and legends - books set in the past. Rarely do we find a top notch picture book about a modern day family. That is exactly what this book is - top notch! Teachers can use it to help their children understand that Native Americans are not exotic, and are not extinct, but living in today's United States. Today, Native people's lives include a blend of elements of their cultural traditions with today's lifestyles.
